Years ago my grandpa went on a cruise and got these coins that came off of the ships Atocha and Margarita. We aren't coin people so we were wondering what they could be worth. Any help would be appreciated. 20180520_125404.jpg 20180520_125912.jpg

Did it come with any official documentation? I think Atocha coins probably come with a certificate of authenticity.

Check for sold prices on Ebay. That is a good barometer for where the markets are now. Spanish silver has been slowly going down since the late 80's when they found so much, and then found more and more and more. It's a good time to buy right now.

Yes it came with the documents he just had them somewhere and it probably would've taken hours to find.

You can purchase authentication documents from the Mel Fisher museum in Key West. They are expensive. The grade of coins is important as well. Your coins are grade 1 (highest) and grade 2.

Well they're important. The coin is only worth a fraction of the price without the papers.

He definitely has them its just the matter of finding them which I'm sure we will end up doing.

Hard to be sure in those wallets but they look real enough, although the left one has been way over cleaned for my liking.

Yeah it's a little too shiny for me also I wish they left a little dirt on it.
