Help with old copper sheet with holes.

I know this is reaching....but does anyone know what this might have been. I found this at an old (Civil War) era foundation in the woods. Thanks to anyone who might be able to help.

It would be hard to pinpoint the use but I think it could be the cover to remove when accessing bearings etc. on a machine like a grain cleaning mill. The larger cutout would fit arount the end of a shaft and the smaller holes for fastening it with bolts or screws.

Being that it's made of copper it could have come off an old whiskey still.
This was probably the cover over the crank handle that drove the auger that mashed the sour mash used in distilling the alcohol :tard: :wink:
