Hiā€¦ Iā€™m an 80 year old new member who is coming back to relic hunting after 45 years. Iā€˜ve just purchased a new Deus II for use as my primary machine, and I found an almost new in the box 3V1 for my backup detector.

I spent much of the afternoon going through the V3i ownerā€™s manual, but have become stumped when trying to operate and navigate through the menu . Iā€™m attempting to enter my name as the owner, but canā€™t figure how to backspace to get rid of the prior owners name. While I was in the menus today, I also accidentally changed the language and canā€™t figure out how to get back and correct that.

Is it possible for me to take a few minutes of your time to help me sort this out and get my machine set up properly? Iā€™ll be glad to compensate you for your time.

Thanks in advance,
Keith (Cheka)

When you set the owner name, there is a password that goes with it. If you don't have the password, you can't easily change it.

From page 12 of the manual:

Unfortunately if you don't have the password you may not be able to change it, at least according to this thread.

Thank you very much for your response. Yes, I have the password (fortunately) and navigated to the ownerā€™s name window successfully. I added my name, but canā€™t figure out how it delete the former owners name. I was following the instructions from the ownerā€™s guide that you kindly pasted above. When I repeatedly try to backspace to erase or redo a digit, it isnā€™t working. Does the sequence of ā€œsqueezing and releasing the trigger, ARROW back to that digit, and press ENTER to bring the keyboard back, then redo that digit.ā€ Unfortunately, when following that sequence, the old digit stays in place. Any help will be greatly appreciatedā€¦ Keith
