Found this pebble on the beach, it has a shell on/running through it, thought it might be a fossil but looks nothing like any other fossils I’ve seen. Any ideas what it is? Thanks 0191A3B7-2037-4F1D-B101-CF1A17341DE9.webpE02CD93D-C934-45DA-9E7C-FA31C9962A3B.webp

I don't believe it is shell but it is another type of rock. Probably something from the serpentine sub group, serpentine has a greasy ,waxy appearance to it and can chip away like the shell looking substance on your rock. So it is probably a vein of serpentine that ran through your rock.
