Help with ID

I found this in the bottom of the Caprock in West TX. It's looks like a bullet but have no idea. It's a lot bigger than most carbine or Revolvers.

It looks like it's rusty iron. Is it magnetic? If so, to me that rules out a bullet, unless it's a tip on something larger than small arms. I really don't think it's gun related, but at the same time, I don't have any ideas.

Picture of the bottom please. Is it open and hollow or solid? Is the bottom threaded?

I will get some more pics. The bottom is solid and no threads. The tip has no hollow point.

Tip for a hiking stick? I know this sounds silly being as where you found but ski pole tip?

Not a bullet. The wider flange around the tip vs. the body shows it's designed to slide into a tube - like a curtain rod tip or fence finial.
