My wife and I were out MDing today. Yay for pull tabs and a fired 22 bullet. Anyways we found this rock and it caught me eye. It was with a pile of other rocks that someone had piled up. I've asked around and no one can id it for me. Hoping someone on here can. The part that's puzzling us is the wide strip running through it. In mississippi if that helps. Thanks

Welcome! Looks like Quartz with another vein of quartz running through it.

Thanks Digger. I figured the outer part was quartz but I wasn't 100%. The middle really had me stumped.

Hey guys thanks for responding. Rock, it is dirty. I hadn't done anything to it when I took the pics. Any suggestions on the best way to clean it? Turkish, I'm not aware of any caves around here. I've heard rumors of them but never actually seen one.

vinegar or as I like to use Denture cleaner. Best to test before dropping it in vinegar tho. Drop a bit on it and make sure it does not bubble. If not then vinegar and water solution should bring off the surface yellowing. Another is Iron Out.

Cleaning will depend on what minerals are there, and what is to be removed.

Looks like some ill formed feldspar to me, can't say for sure though.
