I found this sword in a abandoned house! It has some strange markings on it that don't really seem to look like words but maybe symbols. I'm guessing it had a handle at one time that broke off but did not find it. Has anyone ever seen anything like it before or maybe know where it's from. Any info at all would be awesome and thank you everyone! You are always do helpful and most are very knowledgable.

Secretcanyon I thought Dayak straightaway, too.

Kathy what do you mean you "don't see any really in those pictures that look close" :icon_scratch:...
Apart from the 1st the rest look very similar, the blades I mean, without the handles. I can see the resemblance.
Ok the sheaths are very different...

I think it's a javanese Golok

Check the "Goloks".

Remember these are handmade, so small differences may occur between tribes, villages and individual smiths. For some the sheath fits yours, with the braided twine rings around the wooden, pointed shaft for others the blade does match, slim and pointy...

lol sister...unless one of has the sword in hand...it is all guess work on those eastern island peoples blades...

hand forged blades follow style...not mass produced in a mold to all look alike...

I realize that and I'm actually looking at the style. Those blades are either perfectly straight with no bend and very curved. The one I have has a slight curve

Kathy I think taz42o nailed it. Did you check his link out?

I'll focus your look on this "speciment":

Same blade, ratan bindings on sheath, same woven cord wrapping on sheath and if you check the other examples they have markings on the blades very similar to yours.

I'd say green check "Solved"...

I tried connecting to this link to take a look but only an ad keeps popping up?
