help with ID on this yard sale leather wrap "canteen" bottle

not sure if the cork belongs with this bottle. the high footed canteen shape is a tough critter to search with any good results. front logo may solve the mystery. sun was not kind to leather on back of bottle...... HELP!!!!:help: PLEASE!!!:dontknow:

Wow they have gone down in value... they use to be a solid 30-35.
 

I saw this exact bottle on eBay for 15 bucks....are you wanting to buy it or are you the seller? Seller says the cork is original.View attachment 2038384
that is my Ebay listing. I am flying blind on the value considering the condition, it would need restoring. the bottle glass is clear, just can't find any history on the oddball shape
 

If you have Googled, I take it you know this held a Californian wine? Almaden Vineyards were founded by a Frenchman in 1852 in the Almaden Valley in San Jose. They used those flask bottles for a number of wines. This one (with a handle) was for their California “Mountain White” Chablis:

Only the fancy leatherwork was imported from Italy and, I believe, assembled around the filled bottle on site. They’re still in business, although now in the San Joaquín Valley. If you drop them a line (website link below), I expect they could tell you exactly what this particular container was used for (probably "tourist trade" or limited edition or something of that kind), and give you a date.
