Is it like creskol's naval button?

I didn't claim or insinuate that it is a naval button.

I'll take the blame for "naval button" or even navel button. I said that, just because that is what I thought it looked like when I found one. creskol is off the hook, unless he does use a navel button.

Unfortunately, it is definitely just a Fashion button ...a cheaply-made imitation of of an actual US Navy button... made and sold strictly for use on civilian clothing. You can still buy them today at Jo-Ann fabric-&-sewing-supplies stores.

OH, yea. It is interesting that we have 2 what is its of the same thing at the same moment.
I wonder how many of these buttons they guy sells? At about a buck per button and a 10 buck sale, shouldn't he pay the shipping?

I'll bet if someone notified him that they are modern/dress/faciful? or what ever, he would get mad. Perhaps everyone should send him a button. After several hundred, he might get the idea.

I wonder how many companies manufacture the same button ... I have four that came in a junk box .. 1 backmarked Hilborn-Hamburger, Inc : 1 backmarked Superior Quality that is far superior to another that I have that is faintly marked Superior Quality and one marked Fine Quality.

Drives me nuts ,i dug this on a 1800s old home site judging from its looks it has been in the ground a very long time ,i guess they have made these button copy's for a long time.

Mine was almost rotted out. I really believed it could have come from the CW. Like I said, 125 years. Lots of time to get aged in the ground.

Its not a copy. It looks nothing like a CW button. Yes its an old fashion button.

I found one in my back yard under the old clothesline.

I am posting your old civilian fashion button (top)next to my Civil War US Navy buttons so you can see the difference. The loop on the anchor is the main give away. Its a cool old button but they made a million of them and its not military. Beware of blurry pictures on eBay (bottom).
