Yes, it looks Byzantine to me too. Looks similar to Constantine X w/Eudocia follis, 1059-1067.

Thanks, Nick. As far as I know, it's the real deal! It was given to my Dad from a long time friend of his. These types of coins aren't worth a great deal, however. Maybe $10, but it sure is a rush holding these coins in your hand when you're not used to it. :o
