Hello Forum,
I recently acquired this button in a grouping, and had questions as to it's rarity. It is in great non-dug condition, with the back marked "Steele Johnson 1861" in raised letters. It is listed in Tice's book indicating it is of genuine CW manufacture, but I cannot find anything on the www to indicate it's rarity. Is this a scarce button? Thanks in advance for any input.
David

Nice!!!
It's rare enough for me to know nothing about.
GL finding out tho.

There is no mention of that particular backmark in McGuinn and Bazelon's book nor can I find it in Alberts. However, as you stated, Tice does list it as a civil war era button.

Haha Davers. Left facing Union buttons are earlier.. I posted a dug one in ratty condition last year. Someone responded, but the back mark is great new information.

Reapp. If you find Rick67 post from january 2017 there is a similar button with remarks.
