Found this button at my house built in 1760 in Hudson Valley Ny ... almost looks like a cannon

That's an extremely nice find! It's a 1778 Continental Artillery enlisted man's coehorn mortar button.

Here's what those Coehorn mortars look like. My friend has one. Mounted, it weighs 100 lbs. Awesome gun. Gary
