Help with an ID!

Ok, found in Texas near the site of a Civil War/Indian War fort and town.... Total span of years occupied would be 1850s-1930s.

Size = about 2".

I am referring to the item in the LEFT.
I was thinking either a Key of sorts, a knob for something like a kerosene lantern, or a tinned food/can key... But I can't find an example that matches.

If you look at the end of the item, it appears to have trace evidence of teeth, like a key.

Anyone got any wisdom to share?

Found this online...its an old Singer sewing machine key....
