Found this spoon while working a farm today. Main house dates back to 1840. Found it about 10 yards off the back porch. These are the best pics I can get. I don't want to try to clean it for fear of screwing it up. I can't find any pics of it online and I can find no makers marks to get any age identification. I suck at online searches. I have had some suggest it may be colonial era because of the sea shell shape, but I have also heard that the same pattern was used though the 1800-present. These were not experts by any means, haha!! Approximate age is cool. Thank you in advance...

Last 2 pics are from and back of spoon....

Ok...I got a stronger loupe and did find a mark on the back handle. It's very worn, but I am almost 100% positive it spells out WELCH. I did a google search and found nothing for WELCH.

I can't see the pics...Sounds like a sugar shell which is just a fancy way of saying spoon for the sugar bowl. Can you try posting the pictures again? They were pretty popular in the late 1800's, not sure how long they were being made before that.

Thank you Timekiller!! I've had other people say about the same, 1840's-1870's. The makers name is WELCH, but I have found nothing on the maker. That spoon in your pic is IDENTICAL. Thank you again!!!
