I haven't had the Ace long.Still trying to get used to it.Been at an old house a couple of times(house burned down years ago) Not able to stay out long, not until my health gets a little better. I'm getting signals about every two foot.So far all I have found is bits and pieces of cans, one broken top for a old mason jar. How can I improve on this? Seems to be a lot of "trash" around. Appreachate any help.

Sounds like the same thing I ran into today. Pieces of can, foil, pull tabs, chunks of iron, etc.
Great workout, Huh? ;)

I guess I just need to get more "tuned in" to the Ace. It will go a lot better when I'm back to 100%.With this 70F weather, sick or not,I'm going out ;D

burned down houses are going to pose a problem. You are going to hit lots of blobs of melted lumps that sound good, but are fused wires and who knows whats. I assume when they doze the place for disposal, the stuff gets strewn all over the yard as well. There will be stuff to find in there, but there is going to be LOTS of junk to pick through too, more than your average old 'still standing' house.

I have to agree, I do a lot of torn down houses and they are tough enough but when a house has burned down its much more difficult to locate good targets. Learning a new detector would only compound the problem I am afraid. If the area isnt going anywhere you may wish to try and really learn your detector at some easier places, then return. My buddy lives at a spot where up until about 5 years ago a late 1800s farmhouse used to sit. Sadly the house burned to the ground and a new one was built right where the old one sat. Well my buddy bought this spot with about 5 acres surrounding it. Im sure Ive spent a solid 7 or 8 hours detecting this place and the only finds that come to memory are one zincoln cent and a hot wheel that was buried at about 7 incehs. It seems the bulldozers graded the whole place off and there are signals from one end to the other of that place. Ive yet to give up on the spot but I dont look forward to detecting it,HH...Shoot

I'm not going to give up on the house, maybe just do a little at a time. The good thing is that it's within walking distance from my house. Not sure how old the house was when it burned down, but some of the old home sites around are between 80 and 100 years old.A few are still standing, but getting permission to hunt, well, that's a different story.

hey papa! i've got the ace 250 too and as great as it is ,like most detectors is tricked up on jar lids, tabs and such. this spring i'm thinking of getting one of those sniper coils that are small (about 4.5") and are supposed to work better in confined or trashy areas. other than that just go slower and use shorter sweeps and maybe turn your sensitivity down a few notches. good luck and god bless.

I use a Sniper most of the time. It will help in separating some of those targets. It's a good investment.

Well, the weather is taking a turn now, suppose to have rain, snow, and lots of cold.
I'll be ready when it warmer.Still need all the help I can get. thanks Guys.
