Cru, look forward to seeing the post. Did a Latin to English translation and came up with "We believe". Is the space between the "A" and "I" a space or an unreadable letter?

It's actually not there at all, it was my best guess at a new word. ie. it all runs into 1 long word. (but thats normal on a seal of this period, no space available to split the words)

Cru, might the A be an M ? I found this, but it may not apply.

'CREDE MIChI' translating to 'believe me', a common inscription on seals, re-assuring the recipient that the message sealed by the seal may be trusted.

"CREDEA" is the Italian word for to credit, as in give an author the credit or credits at the end of a movie.
In Italian ICH means either, time(as in jail time), maturity or an accident.

I'm not sure when owls became associated with wisdom, but in the Middle Ages it might be more likely that it represented nonbelievers. Owls come out only at night, so they were associated "dark" qualities.

This is going to be interesting. I hope you can get a good translation and solve the mystery.

I just checked it, it is an A. But its very common in the period to make mistakes, happens a lot on coins.
