Hello, found this thing, which i strongly think is a sleigh bell. It is about 2 inches across and an inch and a half tall. It has an opening at the top and the bottom, as well as two small holes at the botom(hard to see). The question i'm asking is A) how was it attached to a belt, B) What are the two holes for , and C) How old is it. I may be completly wrong, if i am wrong please tell me.

I don't think it was a lamp part (two small and delicute) it looks like either brass or maybe copper(probably not). I don't think it had a clapper. It is possible that the top could have been held by wood(easy for replacement ?) Older sleigh bells could have been that shape.

Also, if you are a charter member, could you look up "sleigh bell" because I saw a post that went something like this "you got to love those 18th century sleigh bells" i thought i saw a smiler bell in that post. Thanks, GC
