The company seems to be mentioned in an article from the Baltimore Sun, titled “Clothing exhibit recalls days of immigrant sweatshops”. I can’t open it because the newspaper has blocked European IP addresses from accessing their content.

This link might work for you:

Their address is given on the back of a promotional item from the late 1800s as “New York Clothing House, 102 & 104 Baltimore St., Baltimore”.

No. I found that backmark on a button but can't find any information on the company. Looks like Red-Coat may have a link.

Well, the link Red-Coat provided didn't give any specific information on the company but it did offer some general time lines. Seems like 1880s -1920s was the heyday for clothing manufacturers in Baltimore. NY clothing co. is mentioned in the last two paragraphs.

The address I provided above (102 & 104 Baltimore St., Baltimore) came from the back of a match safe, said to have been a promotional item for the company and from the late 1800s.

Polk’s 1901 Trade Directory for Baltimore gives the same street addresses and also names the proprietors as the Rosenfeld Brothers: Michael, Goody, and Israel.

Rosenfeld.webp

The three brothers also have listings under their own names as proprietors of Rosenfeld Brothers, at what are presumably their home addresses:

Michael Rosenfeld at 2348 Eutaw Place.
Goody Rosenfeld at 1720 Eutaw Place.
Israel Rosenfeld at 2221 Eutaw Place.

Red-Coat,
Thanks for the additional information. I have a chance to buy a Maryland button with the NY clothing Co. backmark. Seeing as it is a pretty hard to find backmark I think I will buy it. Something else for my wife to give away when I am gone!

I don't know how I overlooked your reply, just good I guess!:D That really narrows down the time frame for me. The button is a Maryland State Seal one so it would date from around 1908-1912. Not, real old or valuable but a hard to find backmark. I'm about to pull the trigger on it.
Thanks for all the replies, guys.
