the S looks really high. Could this be an error and if so is it worth any thing ?

In 1945 mint marks were still being punched by hand so they could be anywhere within a given area. This particular one is close to the date but is still within mint tolerance......

You didn't mention your state (or country) - but you might consider jumping over to Sub-Forums: Select Your Area.... and selecting your state for information (i.e., clubs, hunts, finds, legends, maps, etc.) directly related to your state (or country).
