You need more horses on Long Island CCB! :)

Those are both from horse tack - probebly from a Horse Halter, Headstall, saddle gear...

I don't think too old - 20th century.

Of course knowing where they were dug, what other items may have been dug there at the same depth, and things like that could be helpfull information when assuming or guessing at the age of a piece...

They were found in a woods small open area near tree both found in different areas of that bit i think the top one is made of bronze
found in the Uk

Doesn't really look the same as this one to me

D-shaped buckle from the horse grave at Kobarid.

As well as a curb bit and a spur of Mediterranean type, the Late La Tène horse grave from Kobarid contained a D-shaped bronze buckle with a broken-off hook. Numerous horse graves from the Lower Danube region prove that such buckles were not attached to belts, but to the straps of the harness. Two D-shaped buckles from the tomb of the Macedonian king Philippus II, wrongly interpreted by some Greek archaeologists as spurs of a special kind, had the same function.

Its common, so you may not find it on the web. I recently throw a bunch out which included your several of your type.

Yours hasn't the right patina to be over 100 years old.

In addition, the original buckle has that little roller deal over the one end - that is a much more modern addition to the buckle I think... I have found many from U.S. Army horse stables that have that roller and now think that maybe from the 1890s at the latest.

Of course crusader digs stuff that is from 3000 years old to modern, so I'd trust his opinion.

Asking to find an exact copy of a buckle is like asking what tree a leaf in the forest fell from. You know it's a leaf, but what tree?
