So I've been a member here for a little while and started posting in some sense and in a few contests or what not about six months ago. I started detecting (for 1 summer) about 4 years ago with a Garrett 300. Then my free time went away and I sold the Garrett 300 and about 1 year ago I was back at it with a Garrett AT Pro. I have a lot of Whatsit but these two items I really like and not sure what they are. Bothell items were found here in Michigan (which is where I reside) and on a properties that date back to the mid 1800's (large farmlands). Both properties are also maintained with current houses, so age (for me) can be hard to determine. I will post photos as best I can.
First set appears to have a older style military eagle on it? Second set is a snake coming through a moon with 2 pelicans? Appears to be brass as well and some sort of pin?
Thank you for any input. Much respect to you all and in the information one gets from most of the posts on here.
I put a quarter in the photos as a size reference.
Sorry so long

Cool finds ! The eagle bit looks Civil War ,or Indian Wars (1860's -1870's)
Thanks....A person I know mentioned civil war or older with the eagle bit as well but not finding anything to compare.

The snake thing is an Egyptian styled belt buckle I think, you can see where the clasp broke off on the one side. Doesn't look terribly old. The eagle thing still has me wondering....
Now that you posted the back of it it looks Ike some kind of clasp as well, too small for a belt but maybe suspender or shoulder holster?

the eagle thing went on leather for sure with those teeth, maybe look into horse/saddle stuff or bags and other stuff with straps/leather? The plate thing I have no idea, maybe mechanism for a trunk latch or something?

I will check these out....I will post another picture with the clasp? Swivel? (Sorry not great at jewelry). This shows it probably went through cloths or something....also maybe you can see the snake from the backside coming through the moon better. Also the detail on the snake and birds are incredible....no markings anywhere (like made in USA or brass...) Can handmade objects have this much detail? Or is this machine made?

Thanks....I did find in a search a 1920's Egyptian style sash pin (?) That was brass and looked similar in style but wasn't snakes and pelicans...lol. Their are some religious meanings with both....like pelican=wisdom and snake=evil.
IDK...a Egyptian style 1920's religious sash pendant is winning as of now.....lol

It's an asp (snake) and Ibis (birds) and the crescent moon is also symbolic. I think the bumps also represent something, maybe stars

I was seeing where the Cresent moon has represented good fortune through the ages...like lucky horseshoe etc. I will spend some more time looking into the information later.....thank you for your time and awesome information.
Anyone have anything to add?

Continue to hunt that side hard, the more you find the easier it is to determine what you have. I've found things that made no sense, and later found something that brought it all together and told the story.

Those are great finds! Look forward to seeing more from that site.

Thanks. I have access to the properties whenever I want. Both are in the family and those are about the only places I've hunted other than a couple of parks. I've found a great seal button, crotal bells...other buttons....slq, mercuries, civil war token, reign guides....really cool old stuff.
The pocket watch is silver and has the man's name in it that I found information on in the 1870's.....I love this metal detecting sport!!!
