Thanks much smokey. So would a 'sulfide vein' be an indicator of gold possibly nearby ? The hill the rock was on is covered with quarts ,Big & small.With no signs of any other type rock.Well, it's embedded in quartz. If it does not flake, then it's not mica. Therefore probably a sulfide vein. Arsenopyrite comes to mind. Depends on what the geology is in your immediate area.
