Found this yesterday by an old glory hole, would be mine by ghost town of Querida, CO. It could be part of a bridle as it has part of a leather strap, But not like an bridle part I ever saw. Quarter for size comparison. Ball chain balls are about 3/8 inch dia. and the whole thing is brass. Any ideas?? I'm stumped!!! IMG_0311.webp

pete....bead chain was first introduced in 1910 from austria.it was cheaply made.the first american company to make it was formed in 1914 for light switch. It was used extensively in this application thru to today.many industrial equipment pieces used this for switching and that is my best guess as to what you found.interesting to note that the other common use was for hanging entry bells for buisnesses.
In either case the chain was not always allowed to dangle.

happy hunting pete !!!

Thanks for the input guys. It's hard to believe this could be from the teens as everything else in this silver camp area dates 1870's-80's. Mines are closed and everyone was gone by 1900. Guess there cold have been a few hangs ons, but no plumbing, only out houses, so couldn't have been from a toilet. I thought the remains of leather strap would be a clue? Thanks again and if anyone else has an idea, I'd like to hear. Pete
