Help tracking down a town that's gone.

In the northwestern part of Pennsylvania is an area that I bear hunt. In the late 1800's there was a town of a few thousand. When hunting a few years ago we came across an area that my cousin, who owns the cabin there and knows a little about the town, said we were standing on Main Street. Today, there's nothing other than some cement curbs and such that's left. I'd love to find some info over the next few months and take a trip up to MD in the fall. I did a bunch of searches on the Internet and found nothing. I guess I'm looking for some ideas on how to go about finding the info. There's next to nothing there now - literally. I don't think there even a post office so going to their library won't work. The few businesses that are there now have some old photos but those are the only pics I've seen.

I'm new to this hobby so I'd really appreciate some help getting started.

IF it was still standing in 1939 , & in PA it should be easy.

I would need the name of the town, and the Nearest Cross streets to it.

add to that the nearest town you can find on here

Penn Pilot Photo Centers

along with which direction to travel.

if it was gone before the 1930's
I may still be able to locate it with minimal info
like "county" & "name" & nearest "present town"
but the more you can give me the better the chances.

but Sorry North Western PA is way too big an area for me to just start researching
for lost towns.

Remember not all places listed as Ghosts are gone.
Most research on Ghost towns is done By reserchers comparing early Post office Lists with ,
new post office lists, and as we all know, Post offices usually shut down long before, & in some cases instead of
actual towns.

Add to this, From what I've seen , this so-called list of Ghost towns,
doesn't list even 1 real Ghost town in Lebanon, Dauphin or Schuylkill county, & there are many, it only lists towns without post offices
