Detector(s) used
Fischer 1212-X, Viper Trident, now learning my Excal 1000
Primary Interest:
Beach & Shallow Water Hunting
Gonna try to get my other 2 detectors working again, just for giggles...and of course, some variety hunting ;)... ( have a excal now, that I bought used and just starting to learn ) but, my Fischer 1212, bought over 10+ years ago, simple 9 volt battery powered, yet one of wires is almost completely broken off of the terminal, and my second, is my viper...where the coil is, the loops that you put a pin through, to hold the shaft on, are broken. Any ideas would be MUCH, appreciated. Thank you, in advance! :)

I would think a small soldiering iron and ROSIN core solder the other kind does not due well with electronics would be the fix on the loose wire and the terminal.
and I think you were referring to a broken ear on the coil itself I would think maybe some epoxy may work to keep the ear in place if there is enough room for it to work I don't know if jb weld is ok to use on them or not as it may have some metal flake in it .
good luck and happy hunting ,
Scott

Try watching a couple youtube videos on soldering. The solder sticks better if you get the wires hot first. For fixing the tang on your coil I'd try a slow setting (1 or 2 hours) epoxy for plastic. You'll need to figure out a way to clamp it as well.

I will try these ideas, thank you so much both, for the suggestions!
