Hoping for some opinions from old hands. I have what may be a dagger or upside down cross carved into rock. The figure has been unquestionably chiseled into the surface. The condition of the surface indicates it has been there for quite some time. First, any idea as to origins? History of such marks? And, any thoughts as to meanings? Thanks.

Any pics you could share? What general locality are the signs?
As Old Dog has noted, daggers frequently indicate north. Does that ring true in your case?
Welcome to T-Net, strap yerself in...

I Saint:
First, welcome to the forum.

Second: Here is what Old Dog recently posted on another thread about daggers,

The dagger (if not pointing North)
Is used as a sign associated with distance.
It probably says to "cut the distance in half".

Thinking about daggers and swords i have seen and actually reocgnized as such, (about 3 of them), none of them was pointed up. Two were pointed horizontally, one down.

Thanks. I really can't determine if it's a dagger or upside down cross, but that you for your input. I will think about pics as I'd have to return to the location.

I have pictures of crosses that were made frome spikes xarved in stone.
does that sound like your sign?
Spikes are often mistaken for daggers or knives.

A picture would help a lot

One map I have shows Dagger pointing West and actually sits on a survey line in the field running N and S.
I have seen other daggers in the field that sat on an angle to N and S like 30 degrees or 60 degrees off of N S line.

Points the way or like others said here, cut in half measurement

Here is pic of knife with NS Line at an angle

That looks a lot like a Bowie knife - might help date the carving.

infidel,
the handle on that knife is the letter D

Yes and That Blade is pointing 30 degrees off of N-S Line

Live By the Sword, Die By the Sword,....perhaps Buried By the Sword?
Just throwing one in the mix that points up...nothing above but the sky.
Shows up on June 21st....combo shadow/sun sign....Warning!...which someone did not heed, as the cavity behind and below appears open & empty.

rocky,
wonderful knife sign, shadow and sun style,,nice catch and on the soltice..lots of stuff hidden on that day gang...
I am fairly convinced you have the classic decoy, empty vault sign, invented by the jesuits at the later end of their golden age...
June 21, 2010 002 (640x478) rockys knife heart marked rangler.jpg
A very clever way to make all who find this spot think the goods are gone..but I have worked these in the supers..and the tell tale sign...is the signs around the decoy empty vault..for instance
1.knife pointing up
2.shadow heart pointing up
3.white dog, looking at the heart as he likes to do..pointing up
he has a triangle for an eye, so he is looking at the final layout..
4.owl rock incorporated looking very nice
5.the ubiquitous number "7" and this aint no campground 7
6.black shadow arrow, pointing out the 'chick'
7.chick, looking at the heart..the chick might mean a second smaller cache
confirmed nicely by all 7 elements..all telling you to go up...
I know you said nothing up there but sky.. it might mean up and over,
but for sure this site continues...up [perhaps north]
this is an omega, so your close...just up a ways..lol
hope this helps

decoy vault one of the last chapters in breaking the code
hidden in plain site as you can see, very well hidden only the kings men
could have seen thru this one..so the chances are... it may be intact~!

Rangler,

Not at all surprised that you caught the classic s/s right away. Decoy/false cache is exactly what my partner and I determined the hole behind to be. I would like to point out 3 things of interest. In the lower right area, a big nosed shadow profile. To the left of the knife/sword a shadow demon profile. On the left most rock above and to the left of the owl is another profile head(with an interesting eye)...all three looking to the left. The "chick" may also represent the "trowel" or the "flame", just not upright. Thanks for your post!

I hope mine is a hell of a lot simpler. If it is what I think, then it probably confirms a legend.

Looks to much like a diagram of a booby trap underground. Probably going into or just leaving a corner near unto the quartz; instead of gold, one finds the light at the end of the tunnel as his torch lights up the quartz ahead. Also a detailed map wherein the artist has created an overlay of more than one scale together in an effort to appear as one picture. Looking for the same shapes in natural features on the ground; each sequence scaling down until you reach your destination.

rocky,
thanks bud, now that is two signs in two days that you taught me about..thank you
your welcome for the post, my pleasure...and that flame, trowel thing, thanks twisted...
for that piece of data, I didnt think I would see one so soon, thanks again - the eagle eyed
rocky...I know these caches are shaking in their booty when you walk by...lol
thanks for helping me help others-oh do you have a meaning for the seal hoyo? pm ok
