Help on military button and a whatsit

Pretty sure button is post CW ( found a 3 ringer same site ) but just wondered age and wondered what this little utensil might be. Any help appreciated.Dime is used as refernce for size.???

The button is a "Great Seal" one. In use from 1901 to present day. If you can read the back mark it will help date it. However, it looks like yours may have some black paint on it. If so, it would date from 1910-1923.

Thanks fyrffytr1. Pretty amazing how you pin these buttons down. Yes it appears to have black paint on it. Knew it was a more modern button but knew it appeared to have some age on it. Not dug any modern stuff at this site so far. Wonder about the brass or copper whatsit. shaped just like a spoon but appears to be a utensil rather than just a part of something else. May be wrong.

I wonder if your other object is the bowl of a spoon that has been flattened.

It definately looks like the end of a spoon. Size and shape. Just not sure what it would have been used for. Why the hole.
