Help on Brass Buckle

We have found late 1800's spent 44-40 rounds in the area. This is fairly heavy, looks like brass. The belt tip was next to it.
Saddle strap or pants? Thanks.

Looks like a standard cinch to me. Could have been used for anything leather. Keep digging the area. Maybe it was part of a Pony Express mail bag and you'll find some good contents.

Looks like suspender clips we've identified on the old Lockhart Wagon Road.

Of course I just realized there are no measurements given on it so I could be very wrong! But the tip looks like a suspender tip cover and the type of buckle that was used to slide the strap up and down for adjustment with teeth to hold it in place when locked.

Thanks for the input. The penny should give and idea of size.
It does have the sliding, serated catch, that made me think it was failry modern. I have no idea as to when they were made this way.
It is pretty worn. Brass takes a long, time time to badly pit here in the desert.
