I have a question on using a battery charger for eletrolysis on iron objects.

Should I use the pos and neg clips from the battery charger itself or should I make up wire with clips to connect to the ones from the battery charger. My concern is that the clips from the battery charger will disolve if put into the water with the relic, or at least the one connected to the object.

Hey Greg....Glad to hear from you again.I'd go ahead and make up some extra lead's,they're easier to replace.Try and get stainless clip's,they last alot longer.Hope this help's you out.Hope you and your Dad have been slammin' them up there.Take care....Joe

I too used a battery charger and for the parts that go in the water I used a pants only type hanger that is stainless steel and then a stainless steel clip for the coin that hung in the water. Get the hanger at Walmart and make sure the container you use is wide enough to keep things from touching. Good luck!

I agree with the others. I used ta use the clips to the charger but was running out of wire due to having to cut off the old clips for replacement.

And too the smaller clips are cheaper to replace.

You can't beat a car charger for larger iron relics.

I use a 5 gal. pail for my Baking Soda bath. Don't use salt because it thickens too quickly into sludge.
