image.webpHello my name is Jack Boezaard , I'm 17 years old from Derry Northern Ireland and I had found this button a few years back but did not pay any attention to it untill today , does anyone know what it is and if it is worth anything ?image.webp

Nice looking button. Hopefully some of the UK button experts will chime in.

Sorry Jack, I cant help on the I.D. but it does look like a nice button. I'm pretty good at putting an I.D. on U.S. buttons but not so much outside our borders. I'm sure someone will be able to chime in and help you. Just give your post some time so people can read it.

Jack,

Neat old button....judging by the fact it's a one piece button odds are it's pre 1860 at least.....with the shinning light in your pictures it's hard to see all the details.

Maybe try to take a couple more pictures on a piece of white paper so glare isn't a problem.

Regards + HH

Welcome to Tnet, your button is a modern 20th C civilian blazer button.

It's looks fairly similar to U.S. airforce and Navy, so maybe a "junk" button based on one of those or another modern military. No question it's not very old.

Crusader is exactly right, sorry but it's not very old.

Hey guys thanks for the info , found another person on here with a button nearly identical to mine , in the comments someone had said that it is an italian navy cadet button from 1833 ? Any more info on this would be great image.webp

Close doesn't count and your button has more differences than similarities, and those differences make it extremely different.

Exact same bird ? Cross in the middle ? Arrows under the feet ? Wreath on the out side ? Hole on the back ? Looks very similar to me or do I need glasses

It's a neat button, but definitely not close to the same as your comparison button.

I'm no button expert, but the people who have commented here really know their stuff, they are amongst the most knowledgable you will come across. Don't take offence, just use the information to learn.

I wish I had started detecting when I was 17!

Put it this way... say you bought an 1833 Italian sword for $1,000 and put it on your wall for all to see. A few days later your friend drops by, has a cheap plastic sword in his hand that he just bought from Walmart for $19.99 and says.... Look I just got myself one of those 1833 Italian swords... it's 32 inches like yours, and even has a similar looking eagle head on the hand grip.

All details count and make a huge difference.
