I found this while digging trough a old trash pile in New Orleans. I have no idea what it is. It it idly shaped on the back. Front says Berg MFG. CO.
782 ATA CHICAGO USA. On the back there is a 2 and has some triangular shaped coming from disk. Any help would be great. Thanks.

It's the size of a silver dollar

Hmmm. Ill have to look into that company. Still don't know what this PC is. Think it could be a model number inlay plate for instrument case or attachment? I have no clue.

Think ATA stands for something kinda like audio in musical instruments.. like if you google ATA-SVT-14-HEAD Musical Instruments you will see some ATA info and from the Bert Co. from the above link they make musical stuff...

I think it's an ID tag that came off of an ATA 'road case' (carry case) for musical equipment. The #782 was probably the model number. Since you found it in New Orleans, it's very likely it's a music oriented. If you GOOGLE ATA cases, you can see hundreds.

Neat find :) Breezie

I don't think it is Humes & Berg, as it would be unlikely that it would be marked with just one name. However, both links provided above have phone numbers that you could contact and ask them for information. Perhaps they even would provide an email address that you could send a photo to.

I think when Mr. Willie Berg founded the company in 1935 he just had his name on the company as "Berg MFG co" then down the road he struck up a business partner, you can read the whole history about the company sounds like he had a bad start and ended up getting the business going pretty good @ the end there.

Doesn't look like any tags on road cases that I've seen. This is too hefty, and there's no function for the triangular projection.

Did anybody find Berg Manufacturing and Sales, in Wheeling, IL? (a suburb of Chicago) Can't find a website, but found this list of products:
Custom plastic injection molding, Petroleum refining services, Natural gas production services, Oils or greases production services, Coal production services, Plastics or resins or fibers manufacturing services, Rubber injection moldings, Glass injection moldings, Plastic injection moldings, Reaction injection moldings RIM, Moldings, Injection moldings, Vacuum moldings
