I found a Lincoln memorial Penny with 195? for the year D is the mint mark. I've contacted several coin collectors in my area, and they just tell me to bring it in but without it being graded it's only worth face value. They also told me that I would have to take it to San Diego California to get it graded, or send it in to get it graded, also if I sent it in I could insure it through the postal service in case they lost it. Well I've been trying to do some research on this error but nothing comes up can someone please help me understand

Unless it's one of the popular errors like a 1922 No mint mark or 1955 double die or similar others, it'll be a one off with no sales history and established value. How can anyone honestly grade something with no other examples to go by. It's a fluke really. It be money down the drain paying for someone to give it a grade imo, unless more examples like it are known to exist.

Actually it looks like a 3 over 4 but note marks on the rim like someone has messed with the date. And here's the rub, if you
found a 'new' error penny - it could be worth much more. But the only way to prove it to someone who is going to pay a boxcar
price for it as a collector, means you have to send it in and have graded and certified by the companies who have experts that do this. This is not cheap and may cost more than your penny is worth. So it's a gamble you have decide on. If they refuse to grade - they will refund your money. It happens if they cannot determine
what they are looking at as in counterfeits or altered coins.

PCGS, NGC, ANACS, etc. do coin grading.

Here's a like showing values for pennies.

I really appreciate your advice I really just wanted to know if it would be worth trying to grade because all the coin collectors I've spoken to say I may have a one of a kind but as I said I found it in a driveway I'm not sure what I have

I’d hang on to it as a “one off” and enjoy it. Possibly take it to coin shows for other opinions. I’d think it ungradeable. 🍀

Damaged, no added value. Worth $.01 if you spend it, or, $.02 in copper.

Definitely just damaged, hang onto it as a curiosity if you’d like, but there is no value there over one cent.

Actually... ALL wheat cents are worth at a minimum ... 3 cents... and that is to dealer price.
In case you guys have been living in caves or under rocks... :)

IF you want wheats by the roll ... random years... and you buy online... you will pay at least $8 dollars a roll... and as high as 12ish BEFORE shipping costs.
"S" series cost even more.

Dont believe me... do some homework.... been that way for some time now.
Time to get with the times my friends.

That’s not a wheat cent.
