The U is worn off of E PLURIBUS UNUMand the back of it say "num"
?? Its a wheat back cent and thats what it supposed to sayand " one cent United States of America "
Coins in a dryer like any damage may look neat but decreases the value considerably. We can not be sure that a dryer contributed to your coins damage, but it is damaged thats for sure. It may have been in a vice, as was stated. Welcome to the fascinating hobby of coin collecting. You have found a well worn wheat back cent that also has considerable damage. Its not unusual for letters on these copper cents to be worn off as they stayed in circulation for a very long time, unlike todays clad pennies that just wont last that long. You found a 1947-D wheat cent with post mint damage. No collector value. But I keep all wheat cents because they just dont make them anymore and you can keep it if you wish. There is nothing special or collectible about your coin, but we can only imagine where it has been.and I have several penny's I saved from my dryer because I like what happens to them, but this one was definitely not in a dryer I actually bought a whole roll of them and it was the only one like it.
