I am unfamiliar with that type of coin or markings if that is even what it is? Thank you all in advance for any help given.

Yes, it looks like a (probably) 17th century Spanish maravedis. These were low value hammered bronze coins. They are found all over the world, but assuming you got one in the US, a very good find.

that's pretty sweet. It's not every day that you find a 1600's coin in the US

Unfortunately... I do not agree.

IMO... Not Spanish Maravedis.

Not sure what your item is... but heck... what do I know.

There is no doubt you can clearly see the countermark.

what is a COB and counter mark?

To my virgin eyes it looks like a penny that spent the last 50 years on a busy highway getting run over and flattened thousands of times a day

We each have our "areas" of expertise... Spanish being mine.

But heck Cruz... you handle Spanish as well over in the U.K.

That's being said... the only thing left to add / say is...

If you say so.

On this hand... I will "stay".

After further review... I am still standing on my opinion.

BUT... I have a sure fire way to solve / back my opinion.

OP... Please do us a favor and do a "magnet test" and post the results.
