Help me identify this Banded rock

Banded jasper, butter scotch and red, is my guess. If you found it in or near a stream or water way the rounding is from that source. In the woods well away from water ways its possible its from a glacial deposit or very old water way.

Thank you for the reply. It was not found by water. We have found a couple of indian artifacts in the same area, an arrow head and 2 fire starter stones. Wondering if it's something to do with that.

Hehh :) could be you picked up someone elses rock collection or maybe it was taken into that area because they thought to make use of it as a tool. I don't see any wear marks or signs of tooling but you never know. People will often pick things up just because it looks nice ;)
