For closeups I put a cheap magnifying glass in front of the camera lens and focus in back as usual then shot. It works! I was going to buy a new camera and decided no need. I you have trouble posting, email the pics to me and I can do it until you get it figured out.

Make sure your Camera is set to Macro setting it should be a flower. Also keep back from what your taking a picture of by 6 inches give or take. Make sure you hold real still when it takes the picture. You should be able to get a good picture of those dimes if done right. Practice what I said and you should be OK. If you still can't get as close as you like you can use a magnifier.

Keep @ it and HH!!

Here is a sample of a magnifying glass inbetween
the penny and the lens, and then cropped.

Olepossum, when you are trying to take close ups you need to be in Macro mode like MUD said. Macro Mode is used when taking close-up pictures of subjects between 600 mm and 1 m (23.6 to 39.4 in) away.

Focus switch—Switches between Macro and Normal focus. Make sure you're in Macro. (Flower Icon)

Hea olepossum

#1 thing that i do is too run my camera in the Macro mode
#2 place your finds on the kitchen table
#3 stand next too the table & bend over some & shoot your phots
#4 if the properties of the photos are bigger than 256kb file size
use windows paint program to make them smaller

example: your photo is 312kb in size & the maximum for Tnet is 256kb

what you do in the paint program is to divide 256kb by 312kb which
equals 82%, so i would goto 80% of the original size of the photo which
means your going to reduce the picture by 20% so you goto where it says
IMAGE then scroll down to Stretch / Skew & click it a pop-up box opens
in the pop-up box you will see 2 boxes that say 100% change them too 80%
then click OK

StretchSkew.jpg

then once that has been done save the photo again w/ the SAVE AS on the FILE menu bar
once this mas been done then you will be ready to do your posting on Tnet

Also sometimes when taking photo's if the lighting is too bright & you have the FLASH turned
on & you have an extra set of hand avalible have that person too stand next too the light
switch & when you have pressed in the button half way on your camera have the person too
turn off the overhead lights

Pic of old Keyboard taken at night time in Macro mode w/ the overhead lights turned
off @ 4" from the keyboard, the camera flash turned on, Camera used was the CANON A590

Also, if you have an inexpensive tripod, it will give you crisper images. Once you get some nice pictures using all these hints, try different light sources and angles. hh cobalt
