A lot of this type of cameo brooches were made from Pinchbeck, an alloy of copper and zinc. The development of pinchbeck allowed ordinary people to buy gold 'effect' jewelry on a budget. The inventor allegedly made pinchbeck jewellery clearly labelled as such.

I would say that it is the same circa as the lady in the photo.

Look closely at the image and see if there are dots to make the pattern(printed) or if it is hand done, that will help in dating it.....Joe McDonough

The style of the pin hinge and rivet and the lock is a way to date it too, I would guess 1870's.
