I never "blogged" anything before so this is a first for us I was digging in my back yard an found small statute with some really amazing stuff carved in to it my wife has Indian in her family one is some kind of animal head with a snake around its ears maybe something mythological and a two sided head rock with an engraving of a figure with its feet in the water heading to the setting sun in the back ground. I will put a pic up asap!!!!

alert me when the pic is posted

The suspense is killing me. Where is the picture?

image.jpgIt's not one of these from Hawaii, is it?!

Maybe what he found did him in? He hasn't posted since yesterday. We should all be nervous if it gets back out there.

This might make a great horror movie. A detectorist digs something up, takes it home, it kills people then reburies itself for another detectorist?

I CLAIM THE RIGHTS!!

ARRGGG !

I am scared as well...

Where is it ?

HI; First of all if there really is a snake wrapped around its ears then it represents Evil or an attempt to ward off evil. Snakes have always been associated with evil. God cursed the snake after it seduced Eve into eating the apple from the Tree of Knowledge which God had forbidden them to do. When God found out he sent Adam and Eve out of Paradise and then cursed the snake BANNING it from Heaven "forever". If you read Genesis it says that the snake "appeared" to Eve and seduced her to paraphrase.Genesis does not say that God created the snake and told it to tempt Eve. It says the snake "appeared" to Eve meaning that the snake was an actual form that Satan took to do this to them. That is why snakes are the most vile, evil creature on Earth. I believe that the only reason they exist is to remind us that Satan is real. My advise is to destroy it and have your house "cleansed" and blessed by a Priest and that would remove any form of Evil affecting your house or anyone in it. Get rid of it NOW.!!! I am not the only one who believes this either. So please destroy it and throw ALL pieces in the trash NOW to protect your house and family ok. This is no joking matter. I'm not kidding you. It's better to be safe than sorry ok. PEACE:RONB

Ron, I respectfully disagree with you. He is a new member of unknown age. I am also a Christian. Nobody really knows it the serpent was a snake. This thing he found will be harmless.

I found this god of the santeria religion. It was to ward off evil and if it ever fell over it would bring bad luck to the household. I still have it. It has rolled around and fell over. (spell check wants me to capitalize santaria. NOT)

It is the osun god of that religion. it was supposed to be thrown in the water when the owner died, I found it 70' deep in a river. I thought it was a paperweight until somebody found out what it was. So I have a Satan worshiper's god in my house. Have had it for at least 12 years. I am still alive!!

I just don't know how much dramatics play in our hobby. I still claim movie rights!!

Some Asian cultures see snakes as a variety of representatives, not all evil.
We here still have the "caduceus" represented in medical fields.
Only a guess with no pic is the O.P. has a type of deity , or character from a story or belief perhaps..

lol, I know it's a strange and mysterious religion but I wouldn't call the Santeria's Satan worshiper's. The "religion" evolved in Cuba during the slave trade era and actually means "the worship of saints". It's like a blend of west African traditional belief with a touch of Catholicism. There are many down here in south Florida. But then, there are many strange religions down here, lol.

I found a goat's head on the beach one time, there's a photo of it somewhere on this site. Another time I saw a group of Haitians, there was a bunch of burnt candles littered on the beach after they left. Don't know what that was all about, voodoo I'd imagine.

PS- I got interested in that object you found so I did a little searching. It is called the chalice of Osun. It is received as part of the artifacts given to a new initiate. It contains a "hidden" compartment that can be accessed by twisting the top of the chalice. The compartment contains powdered eggshell, stones, herbs and other items. It's usually placed near the doorway of a home in a high location to watch out for danger. If it falls over it means danger is coming. Since yours ended up in the bottom of a river, I'd say it fell over, lol.
Here is some more about it if anyone else is interested- Odofemi

I really hope this new member comes back here. One reason I don't like to post to these types of threads by a newbie.
