help id'ing

i bought these items for my parents 12-14 years ago.they are supposed to be from fort custer, montana ca.1877-1902.the one cartridge looks modern.one of the other cartridges seems to have a 3 on the left of the cap, a 84 to the right and an F on the bottom. Also, is the iron a bayonet?it is approx. 9" long x 1/2" thick. thanks for any help, keegah there are also uniform buttons. im having problems attaching photos

Re: help id'ing

1st thing take your pictures wherever you have them saved, click one to open it, ok now right click the picture scroll to the word "open with" select paint once your in paint go to the top of the page click the image tab then click "reszie/skew" the 1st two blocks should have the 100% in them change that 100% to say 12 on both blocks. Now your picture is smaller then save the picture again at the size it is now and repost. Hard to tell what you got with such big pics

Now the shell caseing look modern to me the one on the far left could maybe be a .56 caliber used around 1861 how long and wide is it. The piece of iron could be a bayonet looks a little short though, maybe someone else can help better than me.

Re: help id'ing

i've resized the pics.thanks, very cool when you know what youre doing.the shell casing is 1/2"x2". the slug is 1 1/4"x1/2". the old casing has a 3 on the left of the cap and an 84 on the right and an F on the bottom.the "bayonet" is 9"x 1/2-3/4".thanks for your help. keegah
