Dug this tonight and I assumed until I got home that it was a New Jersey copper because a buddy of mine dug two out of this site last year. I got it home and got a 1775 date off of it which is too early. You can see the BR of Brittania on the reverse (which appears to be offset to the left) and there is no detail on the front. I'm assuming it's a George III issue, but wondering what denomination. The halfpenny was my first guess, but the "foot" or whatever it is on the right side of the reverse seems to be too close to the line above the date from the photos I've seen. The obverse photo is oriented upright I think... I held the coin upright on the reverse and flipped it vertically.

1775 King George II? I don't remember when it changed to KGIII definitely looks like a Georgie though! Congrats!

George III halfpenny. Quite likely a counterfeit, they were more common than genuine coins in circulation and 1775 is one of the most common dates of counterfeits.

That isn't where I put it? I thought it was. Anyway, thanks!

Thanks guys - that's the conclusion I came to last night after doing a little looking around too. It was a decent hunt between this, a couple of other interesting coins, and lots of tokens. I'll post in Today's Finds with everything.
