Help ID’ing a buckle

Normally I wouldn’t pay much attention to this type of thing but it was found very close to a spot where some civil war relics were found. Anybody recognize it? Thanks for looking

I am not sure your relic is a buckle, but rather the remains of a folding hoof pick.
