Help identifying what this actually may or may not be ? creek walking

The creek I always walk I find arrowheads and fossils and today came across this etched or carved stone unsure of age or if it is anything at all. Item is about 2" x 2" and is worked around the top and sides but the bottom is just rock.

Wow, my overactive imagination saw photo 2 as a carved head. Turn it 90 degrees anti-clockwise and see what I mean.

Too small for a stone war club, have seen ones with grooves for the rawhide strap although nothing like that. Whatever it is, it is ancient and interesting.

I'd like to find out what this is made of (pottery) or is it just a piece from a broken carved rock . Then maybe you could come up with a plausible guess as to what it might be.

Yes, has weight, 25 grams and I was wrong on the measurement it is smaller 1" x 1" 1/4
