The shoe on the left is called a straight bar and is used when the frog is damaged or sore.HH

Hello!I know nothing about horseshoes, but I saw that you hadn't gotten a response yet, so I googled, and got:Search results from the database - Database says "The circular horseshoe was used to give extra support at the heel " - ha, I thought that too - maybe to recover from an injury? Anyway, until more knowledgeable folks chime in, this should give you an idea. And might I add, very cool! *Any* body can find a U-shaped horseshoe, this one is different, and probably has a story to it! Cool find! And if you hang the U-shaped one up, make sure the opening is on top, or your 'luck will run out'.Tigger
