Found this in a load of gravel that was delivered to out house. Anyone here good with dating and origins of these types of things? Also with it being damaged as badly as it is, is there any value to it? Thank you.

Looks like a broken rock to me.??
How big is it?

It is 7x4x2 measured in inches. A Google search of 'Native American axe heads' brings up some similar looking rocks, but the groove in this one is much more centered. It could just be a broken rock, I'm no expert.

I'm new to the site and didn't realize there was a Native American section. Thanks for the direction.

I found one like this on a levee near the Mississippi river. Mine is unbroken, but the groove on yours is deeper. I like it! Definitely an axe/hatchet head. Too bad it's kaput.

yep, a broken native american ax head. Used, as I understand it, to give the final blow on a wounded animal during the hunt.
