Help identifying cylinder shaped dug relic

Found this today metal detecting & we're at a total loss as to what it is. it's about the same diameter as a 12 gauge shotgun barrel. Roughly 3 inches long, unsure of the material but if you look closely you can see areas that appear to have been pecked by hand-- particularly around the outside of the largest hole. Not knowing the metal it looks like a bushing or babbit bearing.

It seams crude for a bearing or bushing...

I have an old Chevrolet with babbit main bearings on the crank and they precision parts.

Or just a piece of 3/4" black iron gas pipe.

Does a magnet stick to it?

The bearings on some of the old hit&miss engines and equiptment were poured at home or in the field and were crude.
It seams crude for a bearing or bushing...
