I am posting this for a buddy. We can not figure out what it might be. It is the same size as a kgiii and looks like one but the lettering is not matching up it appears to have the letters gor where on s kg the letters geo would be. Any help would be appreciated
Thanks

thanks for the reply, and it might be a conneticut but the lettering where con would be is gor? but it could also be one coin stamped over another? I wish I could get a better pic of what I can see

I think the coin has environmental damage that distorts the letters making them appear to the something that they aren't.

most colonial coppers found are counterfeit - so the experts say
but good all the same

Try taking a nice new, smooth piece of aluminum foil. Place it over the coin and carefully make a rubbing without letting the foil move. It is amazing how much detail this will reveal.
