Waterbury is after 1900. The Horstmann is about 1870-1890 ish. The Goddard button I couldn't find an exact match but they were bought out in 1883, so yours would be earlier.

Couldn't id the A. M.C. Paris button, but the Pettibone is about 1872-1900. They went out of business in 1975.

Check ebay for values.

I believe the A.M.C will actually read A.M.& Cie (the ie are tiny). I think the range is 1853-1960, but I don't know if the number portion of that backmark is indicative of a date. Anyone?

A.M. & Cie is dead on. My source is "American Military Button Makers and Dealers; Their Backmarks and Dates" by McGuinn and Hazelon. It stated French made ca 1918.

I trust the book on that, as I was grabbing info from the web (foolishly).
its possible that number on it is the size (in mm)
