A friend found this old horseshoe and gave it to me. It was found out in the desert near El Paso, TX/ New Mexico border. I have never seen a horseshoe like this and it looks super old to me. Does anyone have any idea how old this is or know anything else about it?

Your shoe appears to have a hand made toe clip indicating it was from a front hoof. The toe clip kept the shoe from sliding backwards over time.

It also appears that your shoe has a hand cut fuller. Given that, with the amount of rust, and its overall hand forged appearance, I would bet your shoe dates to the early-mid 1800's.

Such great info! Thank you!

Cool relic, congrats! :occasion14:

Nice! That is one custom made looking shoe.
