My best guess, after much magnification I (think) it is a Post-Colonial Issue
of a:
British-made, light-weight imitation Half Pence (1729-1775)..........was yours copper? heavy and thick, right?
- or -
Group III coin which dated 1776, 1778, 1788 (its the chin-less guy, looking to the right... ) :laughing7:
I'm using 2015 Red Book , pgs 66, 67

I agree with Jeff of PA, very similar. Have you tried the pencil on paper relief thing yet? Sorry I can't think of the real term for it, kids have melted my brain today. Whatever it is that's a great find, congratulations :icon_thumright:

Jeff, that sure looks like it!

Eyemustdigtreasure, yes it's copper, but it seems to be of normal thickness.

I see a few Minor Differences. But not sure whether to blame it on wear , position,
minting process or different year

Jeff, I had to take the pictures at a slight angle to get as much detail as I could, that's why it looks a little distorted.

What is the size? Could also be a farthing.

Dont clean it!

Boil water, add baking soda, wrap the coin in aluminum foil and put it in the boiling solution. Do not rub it, afterwards, place it in a sonic jewelry cleaner with water and a little Dawn detergent.

this should bring the coin to near pristine shape. a light coating of coconut oil and there you go.

Enjoy.
