I found this under my mom's house in the crawlspace. Can you help me identify it? I did test it under a blacklight and it did not have any flourescent properties. Thanks

Eu_citzen said:Hey what hardness is it? (check out Moh's scale http://www.webmineral.com/help/Hardness.shtml)
My best guesses would be:
1) Citrine
2) Calcite
Smokey topaz as well as smokey quartz has a rather brown color this has not...

Check the link i provided. It has a quite good description.Ok I am not really sure on how to test the hardness but I did take a stainless steel table knife and was able to scratch one of the crystals so I don't think it would rate as a topaz. So would it still be in the Citrine or Calcite range of hardness? The color is a carmel brown or amber in my opinion. Thanks for your help. It is a really nice looking rock either way.
